No One Can Make You Into A Winner, But You

Updated: Apr 29, 2020

You don't make a winner, you find them. Phil Jackson didn't create Kobe Bryant and Bill Bilichick didn't make Tom Brady. Winning is an inside job. If you want to start winning in any area of your life you have to do 2 things:

  1. Learn how not to quit

  2. Make the decision to win

Why aren't more people winning then? Simple, most people never make the decision to win. There are a few reasons that keep people from being able to truly make the decision to win.

Your Circumstances- The average person allows their circumstances to drive their beliefs and decisions. They use their circumstance to validate why they can't win. I'm too short, tall, slow, or dumb. You can tell yourself you are going to win, but if your beliefs are dictated by your circumstances, you will never win unless your circumstances are perfectly aligned for you to win in that moment.

Your Focus- The average person can't focus long enough to win. They want to win, but they don't know why. If you don't know why you want to win in a specific area of your life, you will never have the focus and determination it takes to win. You have to know what you want and why you want it.

Your Faith- The average person doesn't have enough faith in themselves to win. They allow adversity and the opinions of others quickly derail them from believing they can win. They hope they can win, but they never make the move over to having faith that they have won.

There is a lot more that goes into making a decision to win than just stating it. If you are struggling to win in the areas of life you are wanting to win in, Take a look at some of these barriers and see if they hold true in your life.

For me, things always came easily for me growing up. I got accustomed to winning early and often. When I grew up and things stopped coming as easily, I lost focus and let my circumstances dictate my decisions. I stopped winning. I let that spiral in my life and headed straight into depression. I tell you this not to scare you, but hopefully to relate to some of you out there. I would work my guts out to try and win and I was just banging my head against a brick wall. I had to let go of my circumstances and learn how faith works. Once I figured that out things turned around and I started winning again. You too can win again. You don't have to stay where you are at, but you do have to change your mindset.
